Black Swan is enrolled in Stripe Climate. For every transaction processed, Stripe deducts the percentage we committed (5%, one of the highest in their program) and automatically allocates it to Frontier — the carbon removal purchasing consortium founded by Stripe, Alphabet, Shopify, Meta, and McKinsey, channeling nearly a billion dollars toward permanent removal technologies between 2022 and 2030.

We don't pick the individual projects. Frontier's in-house science and commercial team selects them, verifies them, and purchases the carbon that will be permanently removed. Our job is to generate the sales that fund them.

Frontier doesn't bet on a single technology. Their thesis is to build the market for five different approaches — each with its own profile of cost, scalability, verifiability, and co-benefits — so carbon removal is robust regardless of which technology ultimately wins.

Direct air capture

Separates CO₂ out of ambient air via cycling a sorbent or solvent repeatedly through capture and release. The resulting CO₂ stream can then be paired with any type of permanent storage.

$0.39 is allocated to permanent carbon removal.

$0.39 sounds small. And it is, individually. But Frontier's portfolio spans projects at $100 / ton (mineralization at scale) up to $2,200 / ton (direct air capture in its first commercial years). The current weighted-average portfolio price is on the order of ~$700 / ton, trending down as technologies scale.

Which means: every ~1,800 Mold Reality purchases funds, approximately, 1 metric ton of CO₂ permanently removed from the atmosphere. One metric ton of CO₂ is what an average car emits driving ~2,400 miles.

This is aggregate portfolio math, not individual per-ton accounting. No single purchase physically removes one ton — the model is to aggregate committed capital and deliver removal at scale.
